Native Bird Painting Workshop

This 3 hour beginner-friendly sketching and painting workshop for ages 8-80 will see participants leave with a finished Native Bird Acrylic Painting on Stretched Canvas, ready to hang.
This workshop is limited to 7 participants only and is part of Tamara’s artist residency at ‘Island Arts Gallery’ located on beautiful North Stradbroke Island.
Date: Tuesday 22 September 2020 - (First week of QLD school holidays)
Time: 9am - 12pm

What’s included: All equipment and art supplies are provided. Bring your own morning tea.
- Participants nominate their own native bird to sketch and paint (doesn't have to be a kookaburra, can be a cockatoo, lorikeet, galah, frog mouth owl..)
- Introduction to bird sketching
- Introduction to colour
- Introduction to layered mixed media painting techniques
- Participants create A4 pencil sketch on paper before transferring it to canvas for successful composition and then commence painting with clear guidance, instruction and demonstrations.
All participants leave with a completed stretched canvas painting measuring 25cm x 35cm and their paper sketch.
Beginners are welcome and will be assisted where needed. Those with intermediate to advanced skill will also gain new techniques and be able to take the painting further.
This workshop is also coinciding with Tamara’s residency and exhibition at ‘Island Arts Gallery’ from September to October.
Tickets are non-refundable so if you are unable to attend for any reason, please find a replacement to send in your place. Cancellations with at least 48 hours may be able to be refunded if there is a waiting list of interested participants.
All care will be taken to enforce physical distance regulations and safe hygiene for the duration of the workshop and all participants will be required to complete the log and comply with all current COVID19 Australian guidelines. Should the workshop be unable to take place on Tuesday 22 September or should Tamara or the gallery cancel the workshop for any reason, full refunds will be issued within 7 days of the cancellation.
You will need to book yourself a ticket on the Stradbroke Passenger ferry or Water Taxi to ensure you arrive on time for a 9am sharp start. Visit Stradbroke Island Ferries to book your transport. There is no need to bring a car over if you are not staying on the island. A passenger ticket or water taxi passenger ticket will allow you the most affordable option for coming over for a day trip only. The gallery is a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal.
